🥘 Ingredients You’ll Need
Potatoes (aloo) – 3 medium, peeled & diced
Green peas (matar) – 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
Onions – 2 medium, finely chopped
Tomatoes – 2 large, pureed
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Green chili – 1 (slit)
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – ½ tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Bay leaf – 1
Oil or ghee – 2 tbsp
Fresh coriander leaves – for garnish
Salt – as per taste
👩🍳 Cooking Instructions (Vlog-Friendly Flow)
Step 1: Heat the Oil
“First, heat some oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and a bay leaf – let them splutter and release aroma.”
Step 2: Make the Base Masala
“Now add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Next goes in ginger-garlic paste and green chili – cook for a minute until raw smell goes away.”
Step 3: Add Tomatoes & Spices
“Add tomato puree and cook until the oil starts separating. This is when we add our spices – turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook well until masala thickens.”
Step 4: Cook Potatoes & Peas
“Add diced potatoes and green peas, mix well with the masala. Pour about 2 cups of water, cover, and let it cook until potatoes turn soft.”
Step 5: Finish with Garam Masala
“Once the gravy thickens, sprinkle garam masala, stir, and simmer for 2 minutes.”
Step 6: Garnish & Serve
“Turn off the flame, garnish with fresh coriander leaves… and your delicious Aloo Matar Gravy is ready to serve!”
🍽 Serving Suggestions
Pair it with hot chapati, butter naan, or jeera rice.
Add a little cream on top for a restaurant-style touch.
For a vegan version, just use oil instead of ghee.
